Emma introduced a new word into my lexicon this afternoon. Blondie.
As in, a chocolate-less brownie. Well... of course... it's not quite as simple as that - it's much more like a baked fudge than the brownie, which combines different ingredients in different proportions and is quite wet as a batter - the blondie, as far as I can tell, is much more like a cookie dough. You end up with a traybake which basically tastes and feels like the innards of a particularly enjoyably soft cookie! Not sure that I'm not starting to like the idea of a blondie just as much as the chocolate-blessed brownie... It tastes brilliant and, being a different colour provides us with a whole new palette to play with if we want a big range of flavours. I bet it would carry soft fruit (berries and the like) really well, probably better than the brownie which can be overpowered by the amazing intensity of chocolate flavour. I remain intrigued. Definitely going to try and get this onto the list for Willow's naming day party. Em's the only one who can work the recipe at the mo, though, so that'll be on her list for baking!!
