Buffalo Brownies artwork collaboration

A chance encounter at Kedleston Hall may sound like something out of a minor Austen novel, but in the case of Mr Buffalo and Miss Powell, the meeting was a fortuitous and inspiring one.

I met Hayley, the artist blacksmith in question, whilst helping out on the stand of our mutual acquaintance, Grandpa Lew, at a recent craft and food fair at Kedleston Hall. We had previously exhibited at the same show, back at the Family Fun Day at Betty's Farm back in September, but I was busy on the BB stand that day and hadn't had a chance to look around much other of the stands, so it wasn't until late November that I got my first real glimpse at the work Hayley does and a sense of what inspires her work.

Whiling away the hours at Kedleston, we starting considering how relevant her work might be to the look and feel of Buffalo Brownies - the rawness of the wild west environment, rough-hewn and tough - and within a few days Hayley had been in touch, fizzing and brimming with ideas for sculptural pieces she could forge that matched our existing branding (and, indeed, could involve literal branding). Excitement abounded! We quickly realised that the opportunity for a long-term collaboration was there and, frankly, the ideas were too compelling to ignore. You can see some of the initial results of this project in her BB Facebook album

When you see us at future public events, expect to see these pieces in person, gloriously tactile and here forever. Check out the rest of Hayley's work at Forever Forged
